What we do with capital

Five things we do with capital, and the advice behind them.

We lend, we commit, and our partners refinance.

01

Lend

We take the credit decision and write the facility ourselves — bridge, working capital, asset-backed, mezzanine and special situations.

02

Arrange

As a facility seasons, we place it with the capital partner best suited to hold it, on competing terms.

03

Structure

Senior, mezzanine, unitranche or project debt, layered around cash flow and the security actually available.

04

Syndicate

Club deals, syndicated and co-lending facilities, with RFG taking or placing the lead. How we syndicate.

05

Refinance

Maturity walls, bridge take-outs and over-leverage, refinanced into longer-dated institutional capital.

06

Advise

Valuation, diligence, feasibility and M&A — the analysis that makes a facility bankable.

Three routes, one counterparty

Where we write it, share it or refinance it.

The route is chosen for the business, not for us. You deal with one team and one timetable whichever route the money takes.

“Collateral helps. It is not a precondition.”

Written directly

Where the facility fits our mandate, RFG takes the credit decision, writes the facility and runs it through to drawdown. See direct lending.

Co-lent or syndicated

Where the size or shape calls for more capital, the facility is shared through a club deal or a syndicated facility, with RFG taking or placing the lead.

Refinanced

Where a bridge or short-dated facility has done its job, it is refinanced into longer-dated institutional capital before the maturity becomes the problem.

Refinanced by the right partner

Each facility is refinanced with the capital partner best suited to hold it, approached in parallel so terms compete.

Frequently asked questions

Lending, answered.

Does Royal Financial Group lend directly?

Yes. RFG takes the credit decision and writes facilities directly, and refinances them through capital partners across the GCC, Europe and Asia, syndicating where a transaction needs more depth.

Do you need collateral?

No. We lend and arrange both secured and unsecured. Collateral helps, but it is not a precondition. Asset-light businesses are funded on cash flow, contracts and counterparty strength.

What is the difference between lending and arranging?

When we lend, RFG writes the facility. When we refinance, we place the facility with the capital partners best suited to hold it. Either way you deal with one counterparty and one timetable.

What happens if the facility is too large for one lender?

We share it. The facility is co-lent or syndicated, with RFG taking or placing the lead, through a club deal or a syndicated facility.

What do you need to give me an answer?

The company, what it needs, the amount involved and what sits behind it: recent accounts, the purpose of funds, trading history and the security available, if any.

How quickly will I get an answer?

Our lending team replies within one business day, and gives an indicative position in days rather than committee cycles. Every facility remains subject to due diligence, credit approval and documentation.
